Essential fructosuria

In essential fructosuria, the first step in the body's processing of fructose is disrupted, causing much of the fructose that enters the body through food to be immediately excreted via the urine. Since this abnormality does not lead to symptoms, there is debate whether essential fructosuria is really a disease. We also do not know exactly how common this abnormality is. Estimates range from 1 in 130,000 to 1 in 3,000,000 people.
